Lil Kim, Skin Bleaching, Plastic Surgery, Self Hate & Colorism

Beauty News:
Lil Kim, Skin Bleaching, Plastic Surgery, Self Hate & Colorism
By now I am pretty sure everyone knows about the Lil Kim situation. Selfies and photos she has posted in the past week where she almost looks unrecognizable her skin appearing lighter. Over the year's we all witness physical changes in Miss Kim from plastic surgery to skin bleaching, but now after posting her recent selfies and Instagram videos people are more concerned about her well-being. I think I speak the truth when I say we all love Lil Kim and care about her, but It also breaks our hearts that she has drastically changed her appearance because of low self-esteem issues. I think we can all agree that she was beautiful the way she looked before she got work done. I refuse to bash her like some people have been doing, bashing is not going to help her situation if anything It could make her feel worst and push her into depression. I feel sad for her and I hope one day she can learn to love herself and accept herself for who she is.

I have low self-esteem and I always have. Guys always cheated on me with women who were European-looking. You know, the long-hair type. Really beautiful women that left me thinking, 'How I can I compete with that?' Being a regular black girl wasn't good enough.

All my life, men have told me I wasn't pretty enough - even the men I was dating. And I'd be like, 'Well, why are you with me, then?' It's always been men putting me down just like my dad. To this day when someone says I'm cute, I can't see it. I don't see it no matter what anybody says.

Colorism: definition;
prejudice or discrimination against individuals with a dark skin tone, typically among people of the same ethnic or racial group. "colorism within the black community has been a serious emotional and psychological battle"

Colorism started in the slavery days and continues to affect people of color dark-skin and light-skin to this day. Society, Hollywood, and the media play a big part in colorism all over the world. During slavery, lighter skinned slaves were given more privileges by their slave owners then the darker skinned slaves. Today it's the same thing in the black, Hispanic and south Asian communities having lighter skin is what people define as beautiful and darker skin beauty is overlooked. Colorism against lighter skin is a problem as well either you're not black enough or because your light skin black men think you are stuck up or because you have fair skin, light eyes and long hair the darker girls want to beat you up, so it goes both ways.
Colorism also exists in the makeup industry discrimination against darker skin tones there are makeup lines that carry lighter shades and don't really carry deeper shades which need to change, This is unfair and disappointing to women of color.

Colorism goes on in the natural hair community comparing of hair textures and curl patterns

Colorism needs to stop we as a people of all races have the power to stop it ..... All shades of skin tones are beautiful

Skin Bleaching:
Skin whitening, skin lightening, skin bleaching refer to the practice of using chemical substances in an attempt to lighten skin tone or provide an even skin complexion by reducing the melanin concentration in the skin. Several chemicals have been shown to be effective in skin whitening, while some have proven to be toxic or have questionable safety profiles, adding to the controversy surrounding their use and impacts on certain ethnic groups, African-American, African, Caribbean, India, and the Philippines to name a few.

Bleaching your skin can be dangerous because of the toxic chemicals and can lead to skin cancer. This is a big problem and the sad part about this is people have self-esteem so low that they are willing to lighten the color of the skin to become happy nothing about this is right nothing. People have to understand as a human race we all come in different shades and we should accept the skin we are born in.

Self Hate:
A feeling of intense dislike for oneself

Beauty has no color, beauty is who you are on the inside. Whether you're a man or women we all have to learn to love yourself and accept ourselves for who we are the way God made us. It starts in the home we have to teach our children to love who they are this will pass on from generation to generation. once you learn to love yourself you can grow as a person.

Plastic Surgery/Cosmetic Surgery
The process of reconstructing or repairing parts of the body, especially by the transfer of tissue, either in the treatment of injury or for cosmetic reasons.

Millions of people men and women around the world get plastic surgery because they are not happy with their natural appearance. Breast Implants, Liposuction, Nose Job to name a few.....

I am 100%  against plastic surgery unless it is for a good reason, for example, women get breast reductions because their breast is so large that it causes back problems and discomfort. Plastic surgery & cosmetic surgery is something I would never do, When I see people who have had work done it makes me feel uncomfortable mostly when they change the appearance of their face it just doesn't look natural, But who am I to judge.

  1. Plastic surgery is the branch of surgery specialising in repairing and reconstructing missing or damaged tissue and skin. Cosmetic surgery is a separate sub-specialty from plastic surgery, and knowing the difference can help you better understand a surgeon's qualifications.
